Kelly Shanafelt -Stained Glass Mosaics

I accidentally became a mosaic artist when, in 2003, I told my friend who was moving to California that I would help her get rid of a crate of stained glass and some tools. I don't know what prompted me to start playing with glass, especially since I play viola for a living- let's just say I went through boxes of bandaids those first few years. After attending the "University of Youtube" for inspiration and instruction, I took an actual glass cutting class, followed by stained glass class, then fused glass class. Kurt Vonnegut was right. Just create something. Anything, for no reason at all. It feeds the soul. I will always be grateful to you, Jen for opening a colorful, shiny world to me!

Window Poppies is a stop motion video of one of my creations. Back in the days before parenthood, my husband and I would sit around making music. This is a recording from 1999. Egads!
